Hillside house plans are appealing for a number of different reasons. One interest aspect is the opportunity to make the home feel like it is truly a part of the surrounding landscape. By insetting a house into the hill, it is possible to create an effect that suggests the home is part of the hill itself. Different landscapes can make this look quite dramatic; in Arizona, for example, some hillside homes give the impression that they are growing directly out of the boulders and living rock.
